'Cats can't stand the heat in Wenatchee

As we sit here in Victoria and remark about temperatures in the mid twenties, folks down in Washington State scoff at that kind of cold weather. If you have ever traveled to the Wenatchee Valley in the summer, you can expect a few things... one of the most beautiful settings you will find south of the border,  an amazing selection of fresh fruit that bursts from every tree and roadside stand, and heat. Plenty of heat.

Tuesday night the Harbourcats landed in Wenatchee for the first time this season, and took the field in stifling 38c heat (or as they like to call it down there, 101f).

The heat didn't much agree with starting pitcher Scott Kuzminsky, who struggled through 5 1/3 innings giving up 7 runs (5 earned) on 12 hits. Ryan Keller pitched 2 2/3's scoreless innings in relief in his second appearance of the road trip.

Hot weather leads to sweaty hands it seems, as the Cats continued their torid pace of fielding errors, committing another 4 in giving up the extra 2 unearned runs.

Alex Real was the lone bright light at the dish, going 2 for 4 to raise his already impressive batting average to .364 on the season.

The HarbourCats have now dropped 6 of their last 10 games, and have fallen into a first place tie with Walla Walla.
